 What about changing the way we do our tournaments   :?:

I know this is going to get a rise out of most everyone but......what the hell. nodody has ever said I am normal!!! I know the few folks over the last year or so I have asked some of these questions are not in favor with everything I am proposing but....

1. we change from launch and go to Scheduled starting times for each boat and each boat is assigned to a flight. More like a real tournament.
2. no more than 8 hours of fishing time per tournament day.
3. weigh in catch by flight seems to be the best idea we have had lately. Since we can't be assigned a number and weigh in that way. so lets do this for all future tournaments
4. Yes dare I say it...I do! we go to a 50 point system. The ubject came up at the river and this will have more affect on us that are not at the top then the guys going for angler of the year, top six or twelve but it could affect some of them too?

I know this is controversial but

My thoughts:

I think this is a great idea and something we should be doing. As it stands in order to get a decent launch order, you have to spend the night in line. While this does promote club members getting to know each other, it also prevents people that may work late on Fridays or those that wish to spend time with their family members that are not so gung-ho about fishing. We did this perfectly fine at Sutherland.

I've heard the arguments about people being at the end of the line or not getting there early and thus holding up the launch. If we start the launch as soon as the last SDBM boat that is in line, is in the water, we wont be held up. If someone shows up after the launch, they get to launch and go.
